Quaestio Rossica Academic Journal Indexed by Web of Science Arts and Humanities Citation Index

In the last four years, the journal has proved its compliance with international requirements

Quaestio Rossica joural has entered the international database Web of Science and is now indexed by Arts and Humanities Citation Index. From now on the scientific articles published in the journal will be available for even larger audience. Thus, the journal will be more recognizable, and the authors will be cited more.

"It's a unique situation, especially for a Russian humanities journal, to be covered by the main citation index just 4 years after it was created," notes Mark Akoev, head of UrFU Laboratory of Scientometrics. "Quaestio Rossica demonstrates to other human scientists that if one wants to be included in the summons, one can do it. But it is necessary to do it following the principles and standards accepted in the international society, without trying to offer the product as it is".

There are very few Russian humanities journals covered by Arts and Humanities Index. As a rule, those are Moscow journals with semi- or even centennial history, such as "Rossiiskaya Istoriya", "Voprosy Istorii", "Voprosy Filosofii", "Novy Mir".

According to Dmitry Redin, deputy editor-in-chief and responsible editor for historical sciences of Quaestio Rossica journal, having been covered by the main citation index means that the editorial staff has been working in the right direction since the inception of the journal.

"The work consists of two components. On the one hand, we should comply with the formal conditions of databases, such as periodicity, remit of the journal, compliance of the website with the specified rules, high quality of articles," explains Dmitry Redin. "Another crucial part of this work is authors and readers' confidence in the journal. The main thing we managed to do is that we built a high-level professional circle of authors at once. It was possible due to personal contacts and the authority of the editorial team, because UrFU human scientists are recognizable within the professional area. The editor-in-chief, Paris-Sorbonne University Professor Francine-Dominique Liechtenhan played a big role in all that. The authors who are interesting to read appeared in the very first issues. We became quite popular in our reference environment, and those authors were followed by others, their colleagues. The journal gained trust in the scientific society."

Another important thing Redin points out is the editorial policy on the journal’s structure, namely, thematic composition, working languages (German, French, English, and Russian), articles in which are edited by native speakers.

Quaestio Rossica journal was founded in 2013. It publishes articles on culture, art, history, archaeology, linguistics and Russian literature. It is published four times a year. A full-text version of the journal is available free of charge on the website of the journal, in UrFU Electronic Scientific Archive and Scientific electronic library (Russian Science Citation Index). In summer 2017, the entire archive of the journal was indexed in the Scopus database.

Arts and Humanities Citation Index contains 4.6 million records and covers 2 500 scientific journals of the arts and humanities since 1975. Subjects covered include arts, social sciences and humanities.
