Maria Fedorova will receive a monthly scholarship of 100 thousand rubles from the Oxford Fund

Maria Fedorova, Associate Professor at the Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Architecture Department, won the first Oxford Foundation competition - the Oxford Russia Fellowship. 279 applications were submitted for the competition. Following the interviews, 10 winners were selected in the subjects of "Sociology", "Political Science" and "Urban Studies", which included a representative of Ural Federal University.

Maria Fedorova presented a project dedicated to the architecture of military hospitals.

'My project deals with the introduction and development of of military hospital buildings typologies. Going forward, since the foundation's specialty is social research, I plan to determine what changes in the social system have caused the architectural changes that I have identified,' Maria says.

The young scientist will continue the project implementation under the guidance of representatives of the Oxford Foundation and the ANO "Laboratory of Social Sciences."

The program of further work with the scholarship holders is to run for 11 months. During this period, the winners will receive a monthly stipend of 100 thousand rubles. An in-person session in Moscow and remote work with mentors aimed at the development of the presented projects are organized for them. The program will end with the presentation of the developed projects at a conference in Moscow in September 2019.
