UrFU maintained its position in the prestigious global ranking

The increase in the number of foreign students, in the number of scientific publications and new UrFU journals being included in the international databases; experts believe that the Ural Federal University is becoming more visible in the world. The university has maintained its position in the 251-300 group of the THE Emerging Economies University Rankings.

‘UrFU being included in the leading world rankings confirms its high status not only in the country, but also abroad,’ Victor Koksharov, UrFU Rector, says. ‘This, in turn, increases its popularity among foreign students: today we have 3,410 international students, which is 11% of the total number of students.’

According to the head of the university, the network of universities participating in the Project 5-100 and other consortia has a positive effect on the Russian higher education institutions.

‘The university’s participation in the Project 5-100, aimed at improving the position of Russian universities in the world rankings, opens up additional opportunities for students,’ Koksharov adds. ‘The appeal of Russian higher education has noticeably increased over the past few years.’

The experts compiling the THE Emerging Economies University Rankings research the universities of those countries classified by the Financial Times as emerging economies. The ranking takes into account indicators of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international prospects. In 2018, emphasis was placed on internationalization and the relations between the university and the industry sector.
