Sergey Karyakin’s Crew Finished the Dakar Rally

The racer made his debut on a buggy

Race driver Sergey Karyakin, the Ural Federal University alumnus, took part in the annual 2019 Dakar Rally in Peru. He finished up his sixth desert marathon in the tenth place in the overall standing.

The 344 crew (Sergey Karyakin/Anton Vlasyuk) and race fans remembered the many-day race for its adventures: debut on a buggy, overturn accident on the seventh special stage; consequently, time lost on restoring the off-road buggy, leadership on the fourth special stage, vehicle overheating and dangerous road with dunes.

‘I am proud of my crew, only the well-coordinated work of the whole team allowed us to overcome all difficulties and get our crew to the finish arch,’ Sergey Karyakin shares on the VK social network.

Mind you, Sergey Karyakin, UrFU Ural Power Engineering Institute alumni, has been participating in Dakar since 2014 in the ATV class. In 2017, he won the race.
