Over 400 People to Take Part in the UrFU Youth Festival

The project "Katadze — Russian-Caucasian Wave" will be held for the fifth time

The fifth "Katadze — Russian-Caucasian Wave" youth festival will take place in the Dombai resort village on February 3—9. The project is run by the Ural Federal University and the Ministry of Tourism, Resorts and Youth Policies of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic.

‘The geography of the festival expands each year. We expect more than 400 people from 12 cities of Russia, including Ekaterinburg, Moscow, Kaliningrad, Tomsk, and St. Petersburg to take part. In 2018, 350 people participated in the festival,’ Ekaterina Vitiuk, a representative of the organizing committee, said.

For the first time the project will include rapid foresight of tourism in Russia on the basis of the Dombay pilot area. This is a joint initiative of Ural Federal University, National Research University "Higher School of Economics" (St. Petersburg), OOO “Znaniyevy Reactor” and the Ministry of Tourism of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. Students from all over the country together with experts will work out a development strategy for the ski resort, which might be implemented in other tourist centers of the country in the future.

The program of the Russian-Caucasian Wave includes sports and cultural events, workshops and business games. The National Cuisine Night and the introduction to the traditions and customs of the Karachay-Cherkessia peoples are also on the schedule. As part of the Katadze, project designed to involve young people in an active lifestyle, a summer youth camp is held in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic in the year-round resort Arkhyz in addition to the winter festival in Dombay.
