UrFU is the strategic and most consistent partner of the art project

The presentation of the Ural Industrial Biennale, the largest international art project in the Russian Federation, took place today at the international industrial fair INNOPROM—2019.

The theme of the fifth biennale is “Immortality”. According to the organizers, the theme will inspire to reflect upon what is left of the production and artistic processes. The topic will provide insight into the philosophy of the common cause, the achievement of sciences in the search for new forms of human existence and the symbolic forms of its immortality.

Different professional communities (academic, business, artistic, cultural) will coexist in the intellectual platform’s space of events. Among the guests and participants of the forum are representatives of academia, the federal and international art establishment and industrial holdings.

According to Elvira Symaniuk, UrFU Ural Institute of Humanities Director, research based on biennale attracts wide and diverse audiences, including the greatest scientists of our time. For example, one of the participants of the symposium and Biennale, the honorary guest of the University Konstantin Novoselov is a Russian and British physicist, a Nobel Prize laureate in Physics in 2010 "for his innovative experiments on the study of two-dimensional graphene material." He is considered the youngest Nobel Prize winner in physics in the last 37 years.

‘From the start, the Biennale is connected with the industrialism of the Urals. The Biennale would probably have been impossible without the university. Ural Federal University is the strategic and most consistent partner of this event,’ Elvira Symaniuk says. ‘We are working together for the fifth time. Our partnership is a joint implementation of an intellectual platform through symposia, public lectures and other events. It is also the preparation and publication of the Biennale’s “conclusion” through the release of the final catalog. The global level of the project indicates the level of training at the university. The fifth Ural Industrial Biennale will be held in Ekaterinburg from September 12 to December 1 of 2019. For the first time the venue is an operating production facility: the exhibition will occupy two floors of the Ural Optical-Mechanical Plant’s optical production building.
