Mongolian companies ready to join the Ural REC

Viktor Koksharov reached an agreement on the sidelines of the meetings of two presidents

Large industrial companies in Mongolia expressed their willingness to collaborate with the interregional Ural Scientific and Educational Center (REC) and the Ural Federal University as the “heart” of this project. This was an outcome of meetings held by Rector, Viktor Koksharov, on the sidelines of Vladimir Putin’s visit to Ulan Bator.

The general director of the Erdenet state-owned company, Hookhoryn Badamsuren, made the announcement recently. A graduate of UPI (now UrFU) Lkhagvazhavyn Ariunbold, general director of Mongol Basalt, fully supports the perspectives of joint research for the benefits of the company.

“We invested a lot of time and effort in educational projects,” says Viktor Koksharov. – Mongolian industry needs both modern technology and skilled personnel. We intend to strengthen cooperation with this country, particularly in view of the backlog created by the local branch of our alumni association.”

The rector of UrFU held several meetings in the course of the large alumni forum dedicated to the anniversary of the victory at Khalhin-Gol. A large delegation also works in Mongolia: the day before, representatives of the Ural Federal University attended the reception with the participation of two presidents and the same evening Andrei Patrushev, director of the Center for International Students Mobility and Recruitment, departed to Erdenet to clarify the details of cooperation.

The agreement on the creation of the Ural REC in Ekaterinburg was signed last summer during the Industrial Exhibition and Forum Innoprom by the heads of three regions: Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, and Kurgan. The project framework holds that the universities located in these regions become consortium participants while the industrial enterprises and businesses will benefit as customers of technologies and personnel.

The Forum of Graduates of Soviet and Russian Universities and Youth in Ulan Bator organized by Ural Federal University is dedicated to the 80^th anniversary of the victory of Soviet and Mongolian troops over the Japanese Kwantung army on the Khalkhin-Gol River. The event takes place in the Mongolian capital on September 2-4.

The Forum is also supported by the Mongolian Association of Graduates of Russian and Soviet Educational Institutions of the Moscow Aviation University of Higher Education, the Graduate Project Development Fund of the Ural Federal University and the graduates of UPI, Ural State University and UrFU, a representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Mongolia.
