Universities and Enterprises of Ural to Receive Additional Opportunities for Development

Support is to come from the World-Class Ural Interregional Science Education Center (SEC)

Ural universities and enterprises will be able to fully develop and realize their potential to a much greater extent thanks to participation in the work of the World-Class Ural Interregional Science Education Center ‘Advanced Industrial Technologies and Materials’. It is not only about operating in the market within Russia, but also when exporting goods and educational services.

Possible options for supporting regional projects were discussed during a meeting of the working group on international promotion of the Ural SEC. The meeting was attended by representatives of government, universities and academic institutions of the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk and Kurgan regions.

One of the most effective support mechanisms is state financing of those projects that are in the orbit of SEC. In particular, at the moment, the issues of subsidizing industrial enterprises are actively being worked out to reimburse part of the costs aimed at implementing research and development projects in key areas of SEC activity.

“There are quite a few options for which a scientific and educational center can benefit enterprises,” said Sergei Kurochkin, Vice-Rector for International Communications of UrFU. – In addition to direct financing of prominent projects, participation in Ural Interregional Science Educational Center will provide an additional opportunity to promote ideas through a well-developed mechanism inside the center. It is important to work out such a mechanism, to obtain successful examples of the promotion of goods and services within Russia and beyond. This will serve as an incentive for new members to come to the SEC.”

Sergei Kurochkin also noted the extremely important role of the UISEC in enhancing the export of Russian educational services. According to him, the exchange of experience and close cooperation between universities participating in the scientific and educational center will allow significant progress in this matter.

The World-Class Ural Interregional Science Education Center 'Advanced Industrial Technologies and Materials’ unifies the potentials of educational and scientific institutions and business entities of the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk and Kurgan Regions in conducting applied research, obtaining competitive technologies and products, as well as training personnel to solve scientific -technological tasks.

The agreement on the creation of the center was signed on July 9, 2019 at the Innoprom International Exhibition by the Governors of Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk and Kurgan regions. SEC is based in Ural Federal University, which serves as SEC project office. South Ural State is responsible for coordination in Chelyabinsk Region, and Kurgan State in Kurgan Region.
