Institute of Construction and Architecture staff held a round table at 100+ Forum Russia

Experts from the Institute of Construction and Architecture of Ural Federal University (IC&A) held a round table at the international forum and exhibition of high-rise and unique construction 100+ Forum Russia. University experts, together with foreign colleagues, discussed how the cities can improve the quality of life through the creation of a comfortable urban environment.

One of the criteria for improving living comfort is the distribution of wind speed among residential complexes and the installation of windproof devices. Employees of the IC&A of Ural Federal University told about this: First Deputy Director Vladimir Alekhin, Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer at IC&A Chair of Computer-Aided Design Systems for Construction Objects Alexei Antipin and Sergey Gorodilov.

“A set of environmental problems that arise especially acutely when operating tall buildings includes areas such as determining wind speeds in pedestrian areas; calculated estimates of the acceleration of the upper floors of buildings under the influence of wind; generation of acoustic radiation when flowing around individual fragments of buildings or the impact of the subway, as well as the mutual arrangement of intake and exhaust ventilation openings on the surface of the building, taking into account the specific Rose of Wind at the location of the building,” explains Alexei Antipin.

Among other topics discussed were the development of the public space of Ekaterinburg through games practice. Natalia Stepanova, Associate Professor at IC&A Chair of Economics and Construction and Real Estate Management, presented this segment. Teachers from Hokkaido University (Sapporo, Japan) - Norihiro Watanabe and Tsuyoshi Setoguchi - shared their experiences on how the optimal construction of a high-rise building should be developed on the basis of modeling snow and wind loads on structures in northern cities. A professor at the University of Aristotle (Thessaloniki, Greece) Nikolaos Teodossiu told how to manage urban water resources.
