Institute of Physics and Technology Holds a Conference Completely Online

The 7th International Youth Scientific Conference 'Physics. Technologies: Innovation FTI-2020' focuses on the implementation of scientific research in industry and the social sphere

The 7th International Youth Scientific Conference 'Physics. Technologies: Innovation FTI-2020' opened at the Ural Federal University. The event, organized by the Institute of Physics and Technology of UrFU completely online, involves young scientists, graduate students, applicants and students. The participants of the five-day conference will discuss the prospects for the application of high technologies, the results of fundamental and applied research in industry and the social sphere.

There are eight sections: “Nuclear and radiation technologies”, “Condensed matter physics”, “Instrument making and robotics”, “Chemical technologies”, “Materials science”, “Information systems and technologies”, “Bioengineering and biotechnologies”, “Innovations and social technologies ".

“From year to year the number of participants and the quality of the reports they provide is growing,” said Vladimir Ivanov, chairman of the conference, director of the Physicotechnical Institute of UrFU. “And I’m sure that even today's difficult conditions will not prevent this.”  the Professor Ivanov said that during the period of struggle against a pandemic is an additional resource of time to comprehend previously obtained results and outline the vectors of future self-development. All reports will be carefully studied, subjected to constructive criticism, and the conference will become a field for new contacts of mutual enrichment for young scientists from different countries"- aspires Prof. Ivanov.

Abstracts were presented by more than 700 scientists from Russia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Nigeria, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. In the context of the world-wide pandemic, the Covid-19 conference this year is being held entirely in an online format. Over 450 video reports of participants were sent, which are available on the event portal. Registered users will be able to discuss reports and answer questions from experts. In addition, the competition for the best report will traditionally be held - the winners will receive commemorative diplomas.
