For the first time since 2013, the square in front of the main building of the Ural Federal University was empty on graduation day - more than 6 thousand students yesterday, their parents and friends today watched a live broadcast from several hundred points: the main building parquet, a studio in Moscow, from the apartments of graduates, teachers and students. The total number of views by the end of the hour and a half holiday exceeded 480 thousand.

“I am sure that your student years will remain in your memory as a wonderful time. You received a quality education, made friends and were able to implement your first projects, ”rector of the Ural Federal University Victor Koksharov addressed the graduates. - This year is special not only for you, but for the whole Ural Federal University. We celebrate the 100th anniversary. UrFU celebrates this holiday in the status of one of the leading universities in the country. Every year, our university is becoming increasingly competitive on a global scale. Ahead is an important world event - the summer Universiade-2023 in Yekaterinburg. ”

Ivan Urgant, a Russian late-show host, and Yevgeny Zakharov, ceremony host took part in greeting students. Together they talked with graduates of this year, had a small battle of tech-heads with humanities and a lot of practical jokes. The hero of the La-la-car section was the first vice-rector Dmitry Bugrov - together with his graduates, he sang the famous hits of the Agata Christie band, Vera Brezhneva and other performers.

Despite the fact that this year UrFU graduation takes place online due to the epidemic of coronavirus infection, many of its traditions have been preserved. For example, the performance of the Gaudeamus student anthem by an academic choir together with the administration team and even the simultaneous throwing of academic caps with the unchanged motto of the ceremony - Diplomas to All - graduates did this at home, on balconies and in courtyards, launching live broadcasts on their social networks.

“The emotions are amazing,” says Alexander Ershov, a graduate of this year. - I ended up in the top hundred, I was able to participate in a live broadcast, but the most pleasant thing was that I got the coveted set of graduates home. Of course, it would be nice to get everyone together in the square, but safety is more important now. Thanks to the university!”

As always, all graduates received commemorative sets: mantle, academic cap and gifts from holiday partners. Thanks to the Citimobil taxi ordering service, UrFU volunteers, equipped with masks and antiseptics, delivered 2726 sets in 60 cars in Yekaterinburg in three days, 1202 in scooters and bicycles. Another 1077 sets were sent by courier services in 17 regions of Russia. Children will receive diplomas in person within two weeks in educational buildings in compliance with distance and safety standards.

On July 2, Victor Koksharov personally congratulated 16 graduates from the bachelor's degree, specialist's, master's and postgraduate programs of the Ural Federal University among the hundred best according to the results of the year - in addition to souvenirs, mantle and academic cap, they received special medals and letters of recommendation signed by the rector.
