Ural Federal University sits in top-5 among Russian universities in the rating

Ural Federal University ranked fourth among Russian universities in terms of the volume of high-quality scientific results according to the new Leiden ranking.

“This is the first time we got into this rating, and, of course, this is a very important achievement for the university. Especially in light of the fact that only seven universities from the Russian Federation, on the basis of a fractional account, overcame the threshold of 800 publications in four years, - comments the vice-rector of UrFU for science Alexander Germanenko. "This is an important indicator of the visibility of the university's results in the world."

The Leiden ranking is developed and published by the Leiden University Center for Science and Technology Research (CWTS). It is a research center carrying out innovative contract research aimed at studying the effectiveness of research and benchmarking, as well as their impact on society and the economy.

The Leiden ranking is based only on bibliometric data. It is a multifactorial ranking that, according to its compilers, uses carefully designed and accurately calibrated indicators of scientific influence and university interaction and a completely transparent methodology. The Leiden ranking does not rely on subjective data based on reputation surveys or provided by the universities themselves, but relies exclusively on bibliographic data from the Web of Science database.
