Rector Koksharov presented the 100th Anniversary flag and gifts to Captain Alexander Repenkov

Ural Federal University, being the center of attraction for scientific potential and young talents in the Urals, pays special attention to the patriotic education of young people to train specialists who, along with high professionalism and civic-patriotic qualities.

Among the activities of UrFU that provide direct interaction between the university community and the armed forces of Russia, it should be noted the activities of the military training center at the Ural Federal University, which is one of the oldest and the only military educational institution in terms of training profile for providing personnel for the Ministry of Defense in civilian universities in Sverdlovsk region. At various times, the servicemen of the Northern Fleet had the opportunity to study at the university on preferential terms in the direction of their command. In addition, the leadership of UrFU was a member of the delegation for the sponsored cruisers in the Gadzhievo garrison.

As part of the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Ural Federal University, we transfers the university flag on board the ships sponsored by our region and establishes a close connection with the crew members of the submarine 'Yekaterinburg'. We are very proud of our seamen and commited to assist them in additional education. In the conditions of anti-covid restrictions, it is not possible to hand over the university flag to the submariners in the Gadzhievo garrison personally. In turn, Captain Alexander Repenkov will transfer the flag to the Northern Fleet.

For almost 20 years, the Fund has been systematically developing patronage cooperation between submariners and the Urals, and is a recognized authoritative organization in the region, including in matters of military-patriotic education of youth.

"We believe that this event would contribute to strengthening the ties between the Sverdlovsk Region, the city of Yekaterinburg and the command of the sponsored ships in order to patriotically educate the university community and the youth of the Ural region."- Rector Koksharov said.

For its part, the Ural Federal University is ready to train highly qualified personnel of engineering and technical specialties in demand in the Northern Fleet.

"In addition, the Ural Federal University is ready, if such a request appears, to organize a series of online lectures, practical seminars, master classes in various areas of training for the audience of military personnel and their families - added Rector of UrFU Koksharov. "We understand that residents of a closed northern garrison, such as Gadzhievo, are cut off from the mainland and have a need to receive up-to-date information on the processes and trends taking place in Russia and abroad, the challenges and tasks of a rapidly changing world."

Rector underlined that Ural Federal University is undoubtedly a worthy place for receiving higher education for children of military personnel, and through joint activities, we would take pride in attracting the youth of the northern garrisons to study at the university.
