University Receives the Highest Honor of Mongolia - Order of Sukhbaatar

The Ural Federal University, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary these days, has been awarded the Order of Sukhbaatar, the highest state honor of Mongolia. The university has long-term relations with this country: more than 3 thousand graduates of the Ural State and Ural Polytechnic, which later were merged in UrFU, led successful careers in Mongolia.

UrFU for almost 40 years already has held the Order of the Red Banner of Labor issued in 1981 by the State Great Khural - the parliament of Mongolia - for ' great achievements in training specialists for the Mongolian People's Republic'.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Russian Federation Dulamsuren Davaa presented the order to the rector of UrFU Victor Koksharov at a ceremonial meeting in honor of the university's anniversary.

“For the university, 100 years is the age of wisdom, prosperity, great prospects,” said Dulamsuren Davaa. - Over the years of its existence, UrFU has trained hundreds of thousands of highly qualified specialists, including thousands of Mongolian personnel, who have realized themselves in various fields of activity and have made a great contribution to the growth of the economy, improving the welfare of our countries. Each graduate from Mongolia who finished UrFU made his contribution to the development of his homeland through the knowledge gained here, in the university. "

The Order of Sukhe-Bator was established on May 16, 1941 in honor of the leader of the Mongolian liberation movement and the People's Revolution of 1921, Damdin Sükhbaatar, as an analogue of the Soviet Order of Lenin.

The medal badge is a convex polished gold five-pointed star, between the ends of which there are silver flat pointed rays of various sizes, covered with blue enamel. In the center of the order star is a platinum bust relief image of Sukhe-Bator against the background of a circle covered with gray enamel and surrounded by a gold wreath. Above the portrait flies a red enamel revolutionary banner with lush tassels and the inscription "Sukhbaatar", turned to the right, and a red enamel star is depicted under it.

Until this day, Ural Federal University maintains strong ties in Mongolia. Mongolian Alumni Association of UrFU is one of the most vibrant associations due to its high influence on bilateral state affairs. Apart from providing higher education more than 3000 Mongolians since 1940s, UrFU has partnerships in industry with prominent Mongolian enterprises.
