The university and "Prosoft-Systems" corporation form a scientific approach to digital management of power facilities

Ural Federal University and Prosoft-Systems are implementing a joint project aimed at improving approaches to digital management of power facilities. On the basis of the Ural interregional Research ad Education Center (UIREC) "Advanced industrial technologies and materials" specialists are working on the creation and modernization of innovative devices, software, technologies and systems.

“The goal of the project is to transfer management in the electric power industry to international digital standards with an increase in technological and managerial efficiency,” says Dr. Sergey Kokin, professor of the Department of Automated Electrical Systems of the Ural Federal University. - We conduct research tests of algorithms and high-tech devices from our industrial partner, which are focused on the digitalization of energy. The testing takes into account various models of power systems, including those operating in severe operating conditions. "

During the tests, modern equipment is used, primarily a software and hardware complex for real-time simulation. It allows you to reproduce currents and voltages, information flows from large-scale power systems, simulating the receipt of real measurements. In addition, the plant implements feedback from devices / algorithms with the power system model. Thanks to this functionality, it is possible to test devices and algorithms in situations close to the real conditions of existing power facilities.

To expand the area of ​​application of the developments of the Prosoft-Systems company, scientific research is carried out on the topic of verification of measurements at a digital substation. The expected result is an increase in the flexibility and controllability of electric power facilities by monitoring the correctness of data (measurements) received from sensors.

“Thanks to the project, conditions are created for the formation in UrFU of unique competencies in digital transformation in the electric power industry and prerequisites for the further development of high-tech products of Prosoft-Systems,” notes Dr. Sergey Kokin. “The developed devices and software will find their application at substations of various voltage classes and other power facilities, improving the quality of life of a large number of consumers.”
