United Nations (UN) Secretary General Antonio Guterres addressed the staff of the Ural Federal University on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the university.

“At a time when the world faces formidable challenges, from the COVID-19 pandemic to climate change to rising inequality and persistent conflicts, education can point the way towards solutions and solidarity.”

The UN Secretary General stressed that universities play a crucial role in educating new generations of young leaders and citizens of the world.

“By nurturing new generations of young leaders and global citizens, universities can make a critical difference as we strive together to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and build a safer, more just and equitable world on a healthy planet. Allow me to reiterate my congratulations to the students, staff and Faculty of the Ural Federal University. The United Nations looks forward to continued partnership in the years ahead.,” Guterres added.
