PhD Student Won the "Minute of Technological Glory" Contest

The project of Ural Federal University graduate student Yury Marchenko, who developed a turbine flow generator for respiratory ventilation devices, became the best in the "Technological Innovations" category of the "Minute of Technological Glory" contest. The finalists of the intellectual competition presented their own unique developments at the Sverdlovsk Region's stand at Innoprom exhibition.

The scientist's project is aimed at developing turbine-type airflow generators for lung ventilation devices, which have fundamentally new operational characteristics: size, noise, reliability, and efficiency. Moreover, this device is a combination of all four parameters, which distinguishes it from its analogues. Due to the turbine principle of operation such a flow generator significantly wins in its weight and size characteristics and efficiency over volumetric compression generators.

This year more than 30 projects from 12 universities were submitted to the contest, and the 10 best projects made it to the final. Winners were chosen in two nominations: "Technological innovations" and "Innovations in the social sphere". The best ideas were selected by Pavel Krekov, Deputy Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region, Victor Koksharov, rector of Ural Federal University, as well as representatives of the competition's partner companies.

The winners will be able to continue their studies at any business school in Russia on an MBA program, and the winners will receive monetary prizes to continue their studies or to continue their scientific activities.

The annual contest of innovative ideas "Minute of Technological Glory" is held at the initiative of the governor of the Sverdlovsk region and the regional government. Its purpose is to attract young people to the search and implementation of practically applicable scientific research and developments for the development of priority directions of economy and social sphere of the Sverdlovsk region.
