The university won a three-year grant of 75 million rubles for the purchase of equipment

The Ural Center for Collective Use "Modern Nanotechnologies" of Ural Federal University will receive 75 million rubles for the purchase of expensive analytical and technological equipment. The three-year grant from the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education will provide for the comprehensive development of research infrastructure, increasing the level of accessibility and increasing the efficiency of its use.

According to Vladimir Shur, director of the Ural Center for Collective Use "Modern Nanotechnologies" at UrFU, the most valuable acquisition will be the LEA-S500 laser elemental composition analyzer, which will reduce the analysis time of various materials by hundreds of times, and the μMLA laser maskless lithography unit, which will be installed in the "clean room" and will complete the technological chain of photolithography.

"Receiving a grant in conditions of serious competition with all CSCs of universities and academic institutions of the country is high praise for our center. The grant will provide effective support for the implementation of scientific and scientific-technical projects in various fields of knowledge aimed at obtaining the necessary results. We are focused on the priorities of scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation, including cooperation with the leading world and Russian scientific centers," says Vladimir Shur.

Vladimir Shur notes that the additional funding will increase the complexity and relevance of the services provided. First of all, due to the use of acquired analytical and technological equipment, as well as an increase in the number of organizations-users up to 35. This will increase the load on the center's equipment.

"We expect further growth of the center's equipment load by providing services for research by RAS institutes, Russian universities and leading foreign research teams, as well as industrial enterprises solving problems of import substitution. The work of the center contributes to the formation of technological chains that include the acquired equipment, which will not only expand the list of services provided, but also significantly accelerate the execution of orders. It will also simplify the model of access and use of equipment by scientific, educational and industrial organizations regardless of their departmental affiliation and form of ownership," said Vladimir Shur.
