The Mongolian Alumni Association Has Chosen a New Leader

Deputy of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Battogtokh Choijil Suren

The Mongolian Alumni Association of Ural Federal University has chosen a new leader. Battogtokh Choijil Suren, a graduate of the UPI (now Ural Federal University) Radio Engineering Department, has become the new leader. The decision was made at an extended meeting of the board of the association.

The previous chairman of the Ural Alumni Association and chairman of the board, Gombosurengiin Munkhbaiiar, was appointed Mongolia's Ambassador to Turkey.

"Munkhbaiiar has organized many good deeds in five years. For example, by the 100th anniversary of UrFU we organized various events for graduates and came up with a proposal to the President of Mongolia to award our university with the highest state award of Mongolia - the Order of Sukhbaatar," Chultem Bayar Jargal, a member of the Association's board of directors, noted at the meeting.

As for the new leader of the Association, the board members are confident that he is able to undertake the implementation of the organization's key development plans. Previously, Battogtokh Choijil Suren served as Minister of Finance and is now an active member of the State Great Khural.

"Battogtokh Choijil Suren has worked in the private sector and public administration for many years. He is one of our many respected and influential alumni. Therefore, I fully support his election as head of the Association," said Gombosurengiin Munkhbaiiar.

Another important detail is that Battogtokh Choijil Suren is one of the donors of the Mongolia Endowment Fund to support Mongolian students, established at UrFU to provide quality education.

This week in Ulaanbaatar a ceremony of awarding commemorative medals to Mongolian graduates of UrFU took place. The event was organized by the Russian Embassy in Mongolia and the Alumni Association.

The participants noted the important role of the university in training personnel for the Mongolian economy. Head of the Russian diplomatic mission Igor Azizov underlined that the commemorative medal "100 years of UrFU" is awarded in the year of 100th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Mongolia and reflects the contribution of UrFU graduates in strengthening friendship between the two states.
