Experts Note UrFU's Growth Globally in Science and Education

This is reflected in the new Times Higher Education 2022 world ranking

UrFU has improved a number of key indicators in the new Times Higher Education 2022 World University Rankings. The Research and Development indicator grew 3.2 points (from 19.4 to 22.6), and the Education indicator grew 1.5 points (from 23.7 to 25.2). The weighting factor of each of these indicators is 30%.

In addition, the university rose by 3.7 points (from 51.3 to 55) in the Internationalization indicator (7.5% weighting). There is progress in the attraction of funds from industry - an increase by one point (from 63.2 to 64.2) at a weight of 2.5 percent. The university retained its position in the overall ranking, remaining in the 1001+ group.

"The university continues to make great efforts to improve its global competitiveness, and this is reflected in the prestigious world rankings, including the THE study. By improving the quality of education and research, the university is becoming more and more attractive to students and scientists from all over the world. We are also speeding up the process of interaction with enterprises to implement modern scientific developments into production," notes Victor Koksharov, Rector of UrFU.

The head of Ural Federal University adds that this work is extremely important for the development of our region, and that in the next few years the Ural Interregional Research and Education Center (UIREC) "Advanced Industrial Technologies and Materials" will play a very important role in it.

1662 universities from 99 countries and regions of the world were included in the rating. Russia is represented by 60 universities. Rating of global universities THE is formed on the basis of 13 indicators, distributed in five groups. The authors note that the scope of universities included in the ranking continues to expand. Last year, there were 1,527 universities in its published part, and another year earlier there were 1,397.
