International Alumni Forum on Educational Quality Launched

Participants will discuss new strategies for higher education in the Priority 2030 program

The International Alumni Forum on the quality of education started in Ekaterinburg. The event is traditionally organized by the UPI, UrSU and UrFU Alumni Association, the Ural Federal University and the Sverdlovsk Regional Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. The theme of this year's forum is "New Strategies of Higher Education in the Priority 2030 Program".

Forum participants plan to discuss tendencies in higher education development, advantages and disadvantages of online education, individual learning paths and project-based learning. Much attention will also be paid to master's degrees and what new career opportunities they provide.

"The forum has become a good tradition of alumni, our employers, and the university community meeting to discuss important tasks of training specialists for the economy of tomorrow and strategies for developing mutually beneficial cooperation. Only through a dialogue can we realize ambitious projects and plans," said Victor Koksharov, Rector of UrFU, at the forum opening.

The head of the university noted that UrFU's participation in the Priority 2030 program is not only a great achievement, but also a great responsibility. Under the program the university will develop five main strategies aimed at improving the quality of training in research and high-tech sectors, such as nuclear and hydrogen energy, developing the internationalization of education, and studying the socio-economic and psychological well-being of people in a digital transformation of society. All of this directs the university to work more deeply on new areas of cooperation with graduates and employers.

"This year, our graduates from Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will join the discussion, where representatives of the UPI, UrSU and UrFU Alumni Association have already been established - and we are actively working to develop cooperation with enterprises, organizations and continue to train specialists for the economies of these countries. I am sure that during the forum the participants will be able to discuss and formulate practical proposals and recommendations for improving the quality of specialists' training," rector emphasized.
