James Matthew White received the Young Scientist Badge

James Matthew White, a senior researcher at the Laboratory of Editing Archaeography at the Ural Institute of Humanities at Ural Federal University, was awarded the Young Scientist Badge by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

The award was given to the teacher back in September of this year. James Matthew White came from Great Britain - and he is the first foreign citizen in the history of UrFU to be presented with an award by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The professor has been working at the university since 2016. His research interests include the history of Orthodoxy in the Russian Empire, the Russian Orthodox Church in the Baltics, Old Believers in Russia and abroad, religious freedoms in the Russian Empire, and the religious diversity of the Russian Empire. During his years at Ural Federal University, he has established himself as a promising researcher and has become an active participant in the community of historians. In 2020, he was awarded an honorary diploma of Ural Federal University.

In addition, the Young Scientist Badge marks personal achievements and high results in the field of scientific, scientific-technical and innovative activities, nanotechnology, higher education and relevant additional professional education.
