UrFU Is a Leader in Project Management in Russian Higher Education

The University was among the winners of the Project Olympus 2021 competition

The competences of the Ural Federal University specialists in the field of project management received the highest assessment at the Project Olympus 2021 annual contest annual contest. The university took first place in the Project Management in the System of Higher Education and Science  category. In addition, UrFU managed to enter the top three organizations in the Project Management Systems in State Corporations, Companies with State Participation, Commercial and Public Organizations, and Development Institutions nomination.

"This success is a reflection of systematic work in the field of project training, which was conducted at the university, starting from the development program. This was our key case, presented at the competition. We showed how we built an effective management system, it proved its consistency and quality by this victory. Based on this experience, and constantly improving management approaches, we then were able to build an effective system for the implementation of the UrFU Competitiveness Enhancement Program," says Anna Zorina, deputy head of the Strategic Development and Marketing Department.

The strengths of the university's management system were the involvement of a large number of university employees.

"We have developed a broad system of collegial program management bodies (from the University Supervisory Board to expert groups and project implementation commissions), in the work of which high-level experts are involved. During the program we have always tried to identify the best practices, to disseminate them within the university, to involve our employees in this work, to motivate them for achieving the results," notes Zorina.

Anna Zorina also emphasizes that the project management system was of key importance for the university's implementation of the 5-100 project, as well as for UrFU's entering the first group of universities of the Priority 2030 program.

"There is no doubt that in the new program we will use the experience we have gained and our best practices. The recognition by the professional community of our approaches to program management is very important to us. This allows us to expect that we will be able to achieve the desired result in the Priority 2030 program and implement the plans with dignity," adds Anna Zorina.
