More than 1,500 Participants: Peak IT Took Place at the University

The Ural Federal University hosted the IT Day "Peak IT". This year the event took place for two days on the campus of the university. On March 12, students were told how to build a career in IT, and on March 13, students learned all about IT education. In total more than 1,500 participants visited the site in person, and online broadcasts of the master classes were viewed 50,000 times.

The participants discussed changes in marketplace application testing processes, mistakes in data analysis, and how to speed up development in Python. A total of 22 IT industry experts - analysts, AI technology development specialists from Yandex, Sber, Kontur and other companies - spoke.

Also within the framework of "Peak IT", the first Ural Congress of Teachers of Informatics and Mathematics was held. The aim of the forum was to help teachers with implementation of modern technologies in schools as fast as in universities. IT industry experts and Ural Federal University specialists told teachers about new methods of preparing students for math and computer science competitions and about innovations in teaching these subjects.

"A teacher's job is difficult, responsible, and at the same time creative: it is important not only to deliver the curriculum, but also to instill love and interest in the subject. It is not easy, and modern technology does not come to schools as quickly as it does to universities, so we are willing and ready to support teachers and students. We believe that big business can get involved in education at the school level, too. This helps to build a system of training for students, to create top conditions for them in the region, so that in the future even tougher specialists will respond to vacancies," said Pavel Egorov, Head of Fundamental Computer Science and Information Technologies training area.

The Congress was supported by Kontur, which established a charitable fund for schoolchildren and teachers who prepare winners of Olympiads. In addition, the company has a school for teachers, which will help make computer science lessons more diverse, and a training program Fundamental Computer Science and Information Technologies implemented at UrFU.

"It is obvious that both students and their teachers and parents, as well as students missed the face-to-face events. Therefore, "Peak IT" and the congress of computer science and mathematics teachers, which was held for the first time in the Ural, caused great interest among the participants: both those who came to our main building for master classes, presentations, and panel discussions, and those who watched the broadcasts. We will continue the practice of industry open days, where we will introduce the capabilities of our institutes and partner companies in project-based learning, individual educational tracks, distance technologies, and innovations," emphasized Victor Koksharov, Rector of UrFU.
