UrFU Students Took Prizes at the Regional Stage of the Abilympics

From April 20 to 21 the multifunctional resource center for educational activities of Ural Federal University held the regional stage of the Abilympics - the National Championship of Professional Skills for people with disabilities.

For several years, UrFU has been the site for the Entrepreneurship competition among students with disabilities. This year, for the first time, the category of specialists was represented - young people who already have a completed higher or secondary vocational education.

The entrepreneurship projects were defended by 14 people, a record number of participants in the entire history of the championship at Ural Federal University. The organizers of the stage also reset the record for the number of participants from various universities and organizations in Ekaterinburg and the Sverdlovsk region.

Students from Ural Federal University managed to get first, second, and third place for the first time. In addition, this year two winners were selected in the competency "Entrepreneurship". First place was divided between Boris Bredikhin, a student of the UrFU Institute of Open Educational Technologies, and Valeria Likhacheva, a student of the Turinsk Multi-Purpose Technical School. Second place went to Dmitry Mikhailik, a graduate student of the Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems. Third place went to Anastasia Salimova, a graduate student of the Institute of Physics and Technology.

In the "Specialists" category, the third place went to Aleksey Khristolyubov, an employee of the Center for Inclusive Education of the UrFU Department of Academic Development.

For the first time, an entrepreneur with practical experience acted as an independent expert - Lyudmila Shturman, chairman of the committee for the development of social entrepreneurship of the Sverdlovsk regional branch of Opora Russia, a member of the commission on the recognition of SMEs as social enterprises in the Sverdlovsk region. She commented on the participants' projects: she emphasized the possibilities of practical application of the presented ideas. To further immerse participants in the topic of entrepreneurship, Lyudmila Shturman invited everyone to take part in the From Hobby to Business Creation project - a free training on business plan packaging and business start-up for people with disabilities.

The championship ended with an awards ceremony. The children who won prizes were given medals, and everyone else received souvenirs.

The winners of the regional stage will present their projects at the finals of the Abilympics competition season in Moscow.
