Radio Day Was Celebrated with a Massive Procession

On May 7, Radio Day, students, lecturers, and graduates of the Ural Federal University Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems marched through Lenin Avenue from the Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems building to the monument to Aleksandr Popov. The tradition, beloved by students and lecturers, returned to full-time format after two pandemic years.

"Radio Day is a big holiday for everyone. People miss large-scale, face-to-face events. I am very glad that such a serious event is taking place under the leadership of our institute. And I am glad that today not only the Radio Faculty, but also students from other institutes and even universities and university leaders are in the column," said Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems Head Ilya Obabkov.

The procession in honor of Radio Day is a traditional meeting place for graduates of the institute. The column, which stretched all the way down Lenin Avenue, was made up of graduates of various years. Along with them walked shoulder to shoulder current students of the institute, lecturers, as well as Ural Federal University rector Victor Koksharov.

Near the final point of the procession, the Popov Monument, the participants were treated to a concert and fireworks display. Those who had no opportunity to participate in the procession in person were able to check in online maps, as well as join the live broadcast.

The day before the holiday, Institute activists cleaned up the monument to Aleksandr Popov. During the day, the holiday was celebrated in the Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems building in a big way. Students competed in sports and computer games, presented creative numbers at a concert program, and congratulated the institute's veterans.
