The Institute of New Materials and Technologies of Ural Federal University is ready to launch a joint stone-casting project with the Mongol-Basalt company, headed by Ariunbold Lkhagvajav, a graduate of UrFU and now an Honorary Doctor of UrFU.

Training specialists to meet the needs of the enterprise remains an important topic - here the university plans to enlist the support of the Association of Manufacturers of Building Materials of Mongolia.

"In addition, we will continue to work on the transition to the electric furnace in the production of mineral wool and products made of it. It is important that new projects are also planned to create technological foundations for the production of facing bricks and, in the long term, for the processing of solid municipal waste," Ariunbold Lkhagvajav added.

The importance of graduates in the modern development of industry in Mongolia was noted by the Deputy of Vice Rector of UrFU, Aleksandr Ponomarev.

"Obviously, the Mongolian Alumni Association, which was created first among foreign countries, plays a crucial role in preparing our agreements in education, science and technology projects of the two countries," added Ponomarev.

Since 2018, employees of the Institute of New Materials and Technologies of UrFU have been working with Mongol-Basalt on the reconstruction of the existing production of mineral wool products - a contract for 2 million rubles was signed.

Forty-nine Mongolian students are studying at UrFU, including nine from the Erdenet Mining Corporation.

More than 2,000 alumni of the Ural Federal University work in Mongolia, many of whom hold high positions in politics, industry, culture, and science. In 2013, the Mongolian branch of the Association of Alumni was established - the first foreign branch.
