Student Patent Finalists Receive Grants for Project Development

Intellectual property papers competition has come to an end

The Student Patent contest was held for the first time and was initiated by the Ural Interregional Center for Technology Transfer, which was created on the basis of the Ural Federal University. During the first two weeks of the contest 39 applications were submitted.

The project participants took an online course "Intellectual Property Management" and participated in the educational program "Evaluation of the patentability of a technical solution". The proposed technical solutions were evaluated from the point of view of their novelty, and in the final, the best of the solutions were presented during a demo day.

The finalists were Anton Mikheev ("Towing stabilizing device for single axle trailer", 1st place), Lev Sokolov ("Method of processing oxidized nickel ore", 2nd place), Anton Shurov and Nadezhda Razgulyaeva ("Powering a portable radio using a solar battery located on the radio body", 3rd place). They will receive grants for project development.

"The competition was held as part of the work of the UrFU Technology Transfer Center. One of our directions is to involve undergraduate and graduate students in technology transfer activities. The contest is intended not only to encourage the best, but also to develop the competences of young people in the field of intellectual property and technology transfer. The works submitted to the experts for evaluation are very serious, some students already have orders from enterprises (which actually illustrates the process of technology transfer). Next year we plan to develop our successful experience and involve more and more students and postgraduates in the work related to technology transfer," said Pavel Lyubushkin, Specialist of the Technology Transfer Center.
