University Researcher Became One of the 100 Most Quoted Economists in the World

Kazi Sohag is ranked 84th in the world and 2nd in science among Russian researchers

Kazi Sohag, Senior Researcher at the Graduate School of Economics and Management and Associate Professor at the Ural Federal University Department of Economics, was ranked 84th among the world's 200 best young economists, according to IDEAS. Only three Russian researchers - Kazi Sohag and two specialists from Moscow - were included on the list. The top 200 is based on the scientific articles of 1,575 young economists whose first scientific publications appeared 10 years ago or less.

Moreover, by January 2023 Kazi Sohag ranks 2nd among Russian economists in citation rate and quality of scientific articles. UrFU Graduate School of Economics and Management was included in the top 25% of research institutions (10th line out of 45 positions) according to IDEAS. Overall, the ranking took into account the data of 183 Russian economic schools and 1,637 researchers on economic topics.

IDEAS is the largest bibliographic database on economics. It indexes more than 4.3 million study subjects, including more than 3.9 million full-text scientific articles.

Kazi Sohag specializes in Energy Economics, Global Economics, Econometrics, and Statistics. Particularly with the help of economic models, he identifies the economic growth factors of countries, the environmental impact of carbon emissions, and the influence of green energy on the hydrocarbon market along with other features.

He graduated in 2017 with a PhD in Environmental Economics from the Institute of Climate Change, National University of Malaysia. He has also been a fellow at the School of Commerce of the University of Southern Queensland (Australia). Currently, he is a researcher at two other universities: a fellow at the MARA University of Technology (Malaysia) and an external researcher at the Research Center of Excellence in Renewable Energy and Energy Systems at King Abdulaziz University (Saudi Arabia).
