New Course on Cyber Security Was Developed at the University

The team of experts from the Ural Power Engineering Institute has teamed up to create it

At the beginning of the year the Ural Power Engineering Institute employees developed a new online course "Cybersecurity in the Power Industry" in two languages: Russian and English. The course is designed primarily for students of the digital Master's programs "Artificial Intelligence for Power Industry Applications" and "Energy for Smart Cities". This semester the course has already been introduced into the educational process for Russian and foreign students of the Ural Power Engineering Institute.

Despite the distance format of the recorded courses, the faculty is in almost constant contact with the students. They are ready to answer any questions that arise and to provide explanations of the material.

"The course was developed by a team of experts. A lot of work has been done to create a product that is useful in the conditions of digitalization of the power industry. The online course is a system that includes video lectures, text materials, interactive tasks, training tasks and self-testing tasks. Everything to make it not only informative, but also interesting for students to immerse themselves in the learning process," says Alexandra Khalyasmaa, Head of Digital Master's programs at the Ural Power Engineering Institute, about the creation of the course.

The English version of the course was implemented with the support of the Potanin Charitable Foundation. The course was developed with the participation not only of Ural Power Engineering Institute teachers and industrial partners, but also of researchers from the Youth Laboratory "Digital Twins in the Power Industry". The laboratory was reopened this year as part of the "Science and Universities" grant.
