The Anniversary May Walk Will Take Place on 21 May

Participants can choose one of five routes

The 40th anniversary of the May Walk 2023 will be held in Yekaterinburg on 21 May. The route has been approved by the organizing committee. The start is planned to be organized from the Palace of Sport Games "Uralochka" (DIVS, 3 Eremin St.) and the finish will traditionally be at the main building of the Ural Federal University (19 Mira St.). There are five routes in total: The first 10 km around the city pond in Yekaterinburg and four more - 20, 30, 40 and 50 km - in the southern part of the city.

Participants will walk along the eastern and southern outskirts of the city and through the territory of the Russian Forestry Park, Shartashsky, Sanatorny, Nizhne-Isetsky, Uktussky forest parks and the Mayakovsky Central Park of Culture and Leisure. Traditionally, during the event it is possible to pass the GTO (Ready for Labour and Defence) and to take part in the planting of forest trees.

Registration is possible at any of the three "VEK" outfitting stores (tourism, hiking, rafting) or directly at the start of the walk by filling in the participant questionnaire. Online registration is not obligatory. The May Walk starts at 07:00 and ends at 21:00.

In 2022, not all participants were able to get a commemorative badge for the 39th May Walk. This can be corrected this year on 21 May at the start-finish line or at any time in the "VEK" stores.

It should be noted that this unique event has been taking place in the Urals capital every year since 1984. It was initiated by students and staff of the UrFU Department of Physical Techniques and Devices for Quality Control and is held on the third Sunday of May.
