Application Acceptance for the Student Patent Contest Starts

The Student Patent Contest invites new participants. Applications will be accepted until March 23. The organizers will determine the best work in the field of intellectual property among students of the Ural Federal University regardless of their specialty.

The aim of the competition is to create a patent culture, to develop skills in the field of evaluation and registration of intellectual property objects. With the help of "Student Patent" participants will learn how to evaluate the innovation of technological solutions and become the authors of the object of intellectual property. They can also win cash prizes up to 35 thousand rubles. During the contest educational programs will be implemented. They will allow to develop skills in the management of intellectual property, to receive appropriate certificates of training or passing the course.

"We will help all finalists bring their case to life and apply for a patent. This can be used as a basis for awarding students a higher scholarship. The contestant will also receive official status as an inventor. The finalists from last season's competition have either already filed for patent registration or are in the final stages of the process. Each of the contestants knows how to independently evaluate the novelty of their technical solution and its patentability. This is important for the authors of the intellectual property object," said Pavel Lyubushkin, a Specialist at the Technology Transfer Center and the administrator of the Student Patent contest.

Last season, Anton Mikheev took the first place with his innovation "Towing stabilizing device for single-axle trailer" (research supervisor Yury Stroganov). The second place went to Lev Sokolov with the technical solution "Method of processing oxidized nickel ore" (research supervisor Vladimir Lobanov). The third place went to Anton Shurov and Nadezhda Razgulyaeva ("Powering a handheld transceiver using a solar battery on the radio body").

"The contest is a good opportunity to implement a technical solution on a large platform and present the results of your research activities," emphasized Anton Mikheev, the winner of last year's contest.

Reference

The winners will receive 35 thousand rubles. For the second and third place participants will receive 25 thousand and 15 thousand rubles.
