The results of the Open Doors Olympics confirm this

The results of the Open Doors International Olympiad for foreign Master's and PhD students have been announced. The Olympiad is organized by the Association of Global Universities in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Federal Agency for Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudichestvo).

1,700 foreign participants became winners of the Olympiad. They will get the right to study in Russia free of charge under the quota of the Government of the Russian Federation for foreign citizens. The total number of students participating in the Olympiad was 78,000 from 196 countries.

The PhD track also attracted attention. About 28,000 participants took part. Three hundred of them became winners.

The Olympiad is divided into 14 profiles. The most popular among the foreign participants of the Olympiad are the profiles "Business and Management", "Engineering and Technology", "Computer and Data Science". The top 3 most sought-after subjects chosen by the participants are Financial Management, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, International Relations.

The regular survey shows that the participants of the Olympiad consider education and research in Russia along with education in Australia, Great Britain, Germany, Canada, China, USA, which are traditionally attractive for applicants.

The Open Doors Olympiad is known throughout the world. In six years, more than 325,000 people from 197 countries have participated in the intellectual competitions. About 90 percent of them live in Asian and African countries. 3,700 participants won the right to study for free in the best Russian universities. The interest of participants in the Olympiad has been stable for the past three years, regardless of the restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the external political environment.

Intellectual competitions at the first stage include the following elements: entrance test, writing the letter of motivation, filling in the portfolio of achievements. At the second stage, the successful participants perform Olympiad tasks using proctoring technology. Participants of the postgraduate track are additionally interviewed by potential scientific supervisors representing universities - organizers of the Olympiad. According to the results of the intellectual competitions, the winners and laureates of the Master's and PhD tracks are determined.

Every year the Olympiad team improves the mechanisms of searching and selecting the most capable and motivated candidates for studying at Russian universities. The programs of the profiles reflect the thematic interest of the participants in the global market. The methodological materials for different profiles are implemented according to the unified methodological principles.

Open Doors is held at the Master's and PhD levels, online, in Russian or English, at the participant's choice.
