On March 28, Day of the Historian is celebrated! The day is dedicated to highlighting the importance of the study of history to society.

The study of history has a long tradition in Russia. In ancient times history was one of the main subjects of study. Later, in different periods of Russian history, the importance of studying history was emphasized by rulers and public figures.

The Ural Federal University is famous for its high ranking Department of History. In different years it was graduated by Victor Koksharov, the Rector of the University, Dmitry Bugrov, the First Vice-Rector, and Sergey Tushin, the Vice-Rector for International Relations.

"Studying in the Department of History made me understand that everything that has happened to us and will happen to us has already happened. For me, the Department of History is first and foremost a youth that will never come back, a joy of learning about the world. What does it mean to create an innovative thinker? It means giving them the opportunity to think freely, based on facts. This is what historians teach," said the rector.
