The rector of UrFU Victor Koksharov congratulated the students, faculty and staff of the university on the Great Victory Day.

"This is a holiday for everyone who honors the feat of the country that was able to unite all forces in one fist and defeat fascism," the head of the university said in a congratulatory message. - We remember every soldier, every officer, every home-front worker, every city and village dweller who gave their lives for our freedom. On this day, we bow our heads before the heroism of the veterans of the Great Patriotic War. Our fathers and grandfathers were able to withstand the inhuman ordeal, defending the sovereignty of the country against all odds."

Victor Koksharov paid special tribute to the heroism of students and workers who went to the front in those terrible years.

"Many of them could not return to their university, to their families and friends. It is impossible to compensate for this loss, but it is extremely important to remember what these people did to stop the enemy," Koksharov emphasized. - A lot of work was also done at the university. The auditoriums and corridors of the university are reminiscent of the machine tools, weapons and ammunition from the factories that were evacuated in the first months of the war. A number of buildings were used to produce goods for the front, and student dormitories were overcrowded with evacuees.
