Coca-Cola Hellenic supports language practice of UrFU students in London

Fifteen winners of a contest organized by Coca-Cola Hellenic were awarded with a free-of-charge language session in London

On December 6 students of the Ural Federal University were awarded with a free-of-charge language session in London. A special contest was organized with the cooperation of the university and Coca-Cola Hellenic company in Russia. All participants passed a language test and did a creative task – namely, writing a speech in English. To select a winner, the contest commission used the following criteria: general language level, competency to logically state the point of view, and the originality of ways to solve the social problems in an original way.  

Viktor Koksharov, rector of UrFU, congratulated students and reminded them to continue improving their knowledge of language – reading English literature, watching films, listening to news, and, first and foremost, talking with international students and professors. Sergey Pestekhin, Regional Director for the work with key clients of Coca-Cola Hellenic Co., stressed that the cooperation with UrFU is among the priorities for a socially responsible business. ‘Striving to be an in-demand specialist in the labour market, you should use every opportunity’, – Sergey Pestekhov noted.

The winners will spend their two-week session during the winter holidays. The students will study at language school in the centre of London, living with English families. Within the cultural programme, they will visit the oldest English universities – Oxford and Cambridge.  
Janna Kovaleva, a 5th year student of UrFU Higher School of Economics and Management, shared her impressions: ‘I am very glad to be one of the winners! I want to say thank you to the university and Coca-Cola Hellenic for this opportunity. Such contests are a serious motivation for studying foreign languages’.
