University Hosted an International Conference of IT Scientists

The conference was organized by the Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems

From May 31 to June 2, the Affiliated Department "Big Data Analysis and Methods of Video Analysis" held the I International Scientific and Practical Conference of Young Scientists and Specialists "Analytical Club: Current Challenges and Solutions". The purpose of the conference is to exchange experience and intensify scientific research in the field of digital transformation of economy and society, to increase the publication activity of students, graduates and young scientists, and to apply modern technological innovations in business and IT. The majority of the participants are students of the IT Innovations in Business Master's program.

The conference was opened by Maxim Novikov, Director of the School of Bachelor Studies of the UrFU Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems. In his speech, he encouraged students to actively participate in research, as it is a fundamental component of education and industry.

On the first day of the conference, participants were engaged in the Intellectual Game organized by Giorgii Galuzin. Students socialized and participated in fun quizzes. Balungu Daniel, Badr Yasser, Montero Victor, Sun Xu and Sun Lina were the winners of the competition.

The second and third days of the conference were devoted to scientific presentations in both English and Russian. This gave the students the opportunity to present their scientific research, Master's theses, as well as the results of the semester's project-based learning assignments from a scientific perspective. A total of 70 papers were presented by Master's and PhD students.

The scientific presentation sessions were curated by Marina Medevedva, Dmitry Berg, Alexander Medvedev, Vladislav Indykov, with Oleg Fedotov as the technical expert.

The best presentations in English:

1. Balungu Daniel Musafiri. Development of a methodology for analyzing the socioeconomic development trajectory of Russian Federation regions with the use of Machine Learning Methods.
2. Avinash Kumar, Abdullah Haidari, Abdullah Behzad. Potato Leaf Disease Detection Using the Convolutional Neural Network.
3. Brahim Sidi Med Shah, Farhan Tanvir Mridul , Waseem Mowafak Hayawi , Abdel Kerim Taleb Ould Sidi. Investigation of vulnerabilities in anti-spam/ business email compartmentation systems.

The next conference will be much bigger and the organizers are looking forward to more international contributions.
