The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov, the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Yevgeny Kuyvashev, and the Rector of the Ural Federal University Victor Koksharov visited the construction site of the university campus in Ekaterinburg on June 9. They observed the medical center with well-equipped laboratories and classrooms, the student residence with comfortable living quarters, the community center with classrooms, conference rooms, an arena, and a catering facility for 600 people.

The UrFU campus construction project envisages the creation of a powerful scientific and educational cluster, where students and partners of the university will work together in a single environment, forming the future university community.

"The problem of eliminating the shortage of dormitory places has been solved due to the program of creating world-class campuses within the national project "Science and Universities" in the attractive city of Ekaterinburg. We have never had such comfortable conditions before. The campus deserves its name. It will become a real center of transformation of the region and the country," said Victor Koksharov.

The first stage of the large-scale project is the preparation of the University International Sports Festival, which will be held in Ekaterinburg in August of this year along with the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Ural capital. A sports village has been built for the festival which includes a complex of dormitories for 8.5 thousand people, community and medical centers, and a training ground with athletic tracks.

The second stage of the development of the campus includes the construction of educational buildings of the UrFU Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems, the Graduate School of Economics and Management, and the Specialized Educational and Scientific Center. It is planned that the total area of all facilities will exceed 400 thousand square meters. The general contractor for the construction of the campus facilities is "Sinara Development" Company.

"In recent years the number of students in the Sverdlovsk Region has grown by 16%. Ekaterinburg is the most powerful scientific and educational complex in the region - there are almost three dozen universities of various faculties. The Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences is also represented there with powerful research teams, which also makes the education unique. This is why the city is attractive. People from other regions and abroad come here, and we can see it in the number of foreign students and in the projects that the local universities receive," said Valery Falkov.

According to Mikhail Khodorovsky, the General Director of the Sinara Group, the educational buildings of the Ural Federal University with a total area of more than 100,000 square meters will be built by the end of 2025.

It should be noted that the Ural Federal University was one of the eight winners of the federal competition for the creation of a world-class campus. The goals of the "Decade of Science and Technology" announced by the President of the Russian Federation for 2022-2031 are fulfilled by the campus creation project.
