The Ural Federal University team took the first place in the championship of the All-Russian Student Esports League 2023 in CS:GO and Dota 2. In the finals, the UrFU team defeated its rivals from MIREA - Russian Technological University with a score of 2-1. The final stage of the competition took place on June 18th in Nizhny Novgorod. The UrFU team took the second place in the overall ranking of the tournament. The competition was attended by 9589 athletes from 62 regions of the country.

"It is incredibly cool! When you win your first big tournament, it is an indescribable feeling. I can barely breathe right now. You have to feel it. My dad has been supporting me since I was little. He used to play as a kid and he let me play a lot. He and I used to play together in the 'Teammates' mode, and we used to play really hard," said Georgy Ilinykh, CS:GO player and student at UrFU.

The All-Russian Student Esports League is a competition of university teams organized by the Russian eSports Federation and held throughout the academic year. Student teams competed in five disciplines: Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Hearthstone, Clash Royale, and StarCraft II. The prize fund of the All-Russian Student Esports League 2023 is 3 million rubles.

"Student competitions - especially big ones like the VCSL - are a great stepping stone to the big leagues. Not only do competitors get a chance to prove themselves, impress scouts, and earn invitations to join professional teams, but they also gain valuable experience performing on stage. This experience will allow students to determine if they are ready to reach the heights of professional cybersports," said Dmitry Smith, President of the Russian eSports Federation.
