Focus on implementing joint educational programs

The rector of the Ural Federal University Victor Koksharov and Baataryn Myanganbayar, the representative of the Ural Federal University in Erdenet, met on June 30 to discuss the further development of cooperation and the implementation of the agreements reached. The training of specialists for Mongolian companies will be continued at a high level at UrFU. The program of the delegation was extensive, the representative visited museums, met with students and the Honorary Consul of Mongolia in Ekaterinburg.

"I was very pleased to be at the university, to see our students, to see how their studies are going, and to meet the rector. My grandson graduated from UrFU with a master's degree, and I am very happy about that, because I also studied at UPI (now UrFU). We have a very good cooperation, we discussed plans for further work and education of students. I liked it in Ekaterinburg, the way we were welcomed and what we were shown. It was a very memorable visit," Baataryn Myanganbayar shared his impressions.

Generational continuity is not uncommon at UrFU, as one grandson of Baataryn Myanganbayar has already received an education within the walls of UrFU, and another grandson is planning to enroll.

"We discussed issues related to the Mongolian Alumni Association, as Baataryn Myanganbayar is a member of its presidium. First, we need to implement the "2+2" program of metallurgists in non-ferrous metallurgy. Secondly, we are now starting to build a plant for the production of copper cathodes in Mongolia, and our graduate is leading this project, for which we plan to send six master students for training for future production. We also discussed other important issues of student education," said Alexander Ponomarev, First Deputy Rector of UrFU.

There are 49 Mongolian students studying at UrFU, including nine who graduated from the university this year on the recommendation of the Erdenet Mining and Processing Combine. In 2013, the Mongolian - the first foreign - branch of the Association of Graduates of UPI, UrSU and UrFU was established.
