The construction of a new 16-floor dormitory of the Ural Federal University in Ekaterinburg has been completed. From September 1, 1328 undergraduate and postgraduate students will live here. This is three times more than the capacity of the old ninth building. Starting today, 300 international students participating in the international Summer University are going to move into the new building.

Valery Falkov, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, took part in the opening ceremony of the dormitory.

The Minister added that along with the new campus in the Novokoltsovsky district, which will be handed over to the students and faculty of the university in the very near future, it can be confidently stated that the area of the UrFU will double, it will receive unique buildings and facilities, which will make it even more competitive.

The new dormitory No. 9 was built within the framework of the national project "Science and Universities". Its total area is more than 23.7 thousand sq. m. The building is equipped with modern security systems, including access control system, security alarm system, video surveillance, fire alarm system, as well as climatic systems (ventilation, heating and air conditioning of the building).

"This is our common holiday, we are happy when our wonderful students get an opportunity to live in modern comfortable dormitories," said Victor Koksharov, Rector of UrFU, at the opening ceremony. - It is a great pleasure for us that thanks to the support of the federal government within the framework of the "Science and Universities" project. We have managed to build a modern new building. Over the past 10 years we have made a very powerful leap in development. In 2013, 10 years ago, we opened the first new dormitory, in 2017 - the second. And today, in 2023, there is this beautiful modern building. I personally, as a student, lived in a dormitory, in a room for six people, with beds on two levels. Against this background, the new dormitory is like a fairy tale. Everything is here for you to live comfortably and study effectively."

Laundry rooms with washers, dryers and ironing boards are located on all floors of the residence hall. In addition, special rooms are organized for the residents, where the students can spend their free time. The first floor is fully adapted for disabled students.

"The shortage of places in student dormitories and the condition of residential buildings are serious problems faced by many educational institutions, and we are proud to help solve them. "LSR Group" has been fruitfully cooperating with the Ural Federal University for more than 10 years. We have already built three dormitories where more than 3.5 thousand students live comfortably. The building was constructed using the proven technology of prefabricated houses from the products of the Reinforced Concrete Construction Plant, which is part of the "LSR Group," emphasized Ivan Kudryavtsev, the representative of the dormitory developer, Director for Design and Preparation of "LSR Ural Construction Group", at the opening ceremony.

At the final ceremony, Ivan Kudryavtsev handed over the symbolic key to the dormitory to Mikhail Podkovyarkin, the Head of the UrFU Student Union.

Since July 10, 300 participants of the "Summer University" project from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Georgia, Brazil, Vietnam, India, Serbia and Colombia have been accommodated in the new dormitory.
