François Njelassili, PhD Student of the University, Tragically Died

The university expresses its condolences

We regret to inform you that François Njelassili, a PhD student of the Ural Federal University, died tragically on August 18.

With great respect for Russian culture, François came to Ekaterinburg to acquire the knowledge he needed to work for the benefit of his country - Gabon - and the development of its economy.

Always surrounded by friends both among Russian students and representatives of other countries, he successfully completed both Bachelor's and Master's programs at the UrFU Graduate School of Economics and Management. Then he enrolled in the postgraduate program of the Department of Environmental Economics, where he had time to complete two courses.

In 2019, he was one of the seven students awarded the title of "UrFU International Student of the Year" for developing proposals for the internationalization of national currencies in Africa. Energetic and determined, receptive and friendly, François was fond of dancing and sports (football). 

The university extends its sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of François Njelassili. 

The time and place of the farewell ceremony will be announced later.
