The exhibition of the famous Chinese at UrFU

On November, 14 URFU and The Guang Dong University of the Foreign Languages and Foreign Trade will sign an agreement on cooperation.

On November, 9 The Ural Federal University opened an exhibition “Image-Line-Language” devoted to the cooperation agreement signing between the university and The Guan dun University of the Foreign Languages and Foreign Trade.

The project presents an attempt to open up an art and conceptual perception of the Chinese culture, especially the Chinese language in the modern Russian environment. Among the demonstration articles - pieces of work of the artists recognized in China and in the Western countries Han Meilin (born 1936) and U Guanchjun (1919-2010).

The exhibition was opened by the university rector Viktor Koksharov who thanked The Confucius Institute for its organization and The China General Council in Yekaterinburg for the ceremony opening ceremony: “The exhibition opening is a significant event for The Ural Federal University because we have a stable collaboration with China and Chinese students. Our students and professors go with lectures to China, study Chinese and the culture of this country. The Confucius Institute that started to work at The URFU in 2008 is a responsible partner of the university.” Mr. Koksharov wished all the exhibition visitors feel a high interest to the Chinese culture.

Yan Tszin Yui, the Council for the education and culture of The China General Consulate in Yekaterinburg, also presented a solemn speech. He thanked the audience for its attention to the Chinese culture, expressed his warm relation to the Ural Federal University and gave a present to its rector.

The guest in honour of the opening ceremony was a professor Shan from The Confucius Institute.

The visitors of the exhibition opening ceremony got a unique opportunity to learn hieroglyph penciling. The students drew with pleasure: “sky”, “water,” “world”, “Confucius”, etc. I was also possible to show the knowledge in Chinese and suggest own ideas like a first grade student of The Department for the Eastern Studies who made from the hieroglyphs a phrase: “I know Chinese”. “I am greatly interested in learning Chinese and this exhibition inspired me more to continue learning. I think that a number of those who want to learn this language and the culture of this country will increase,” – a student shared his impressions.
