Board of Honour "Renowned Kazakh Alumni of UPI-UrFU” has been officially opened at the University

UrFU Rector Viktor Koksharov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Russia Galym Orazbakov unveiled the board "Renowned Kazakh Alumni of UPI-UrFU” on 11 November. 

One of UPI alumni, Maskhat Alinov, who graduated from the Metallurgical Faculty in 1967 and is now the Executive Director of the Sustainable Development Research Centre (KazNTU), took part in the official ceremony.

He addressed the audience speaking about the crucial role that student days play in our life. "We were like you, running through the maze of the University's corridors and halls, queuing up at the canteen or spending hours in the library. We also attended concerts, met governmental officials and were looking forward to "Spring UPI" festival", the honorary guest said. 

According to Maskhat Alinov, he has fond memories of his student days and after having visited over 20 countries as a representative of first the USSR and then Kazakhstan, he has always wanted to be worthy of the UPI alumnus title.

In his turn, the Ambassador pointed out that Russian education and Russian language are in high demand on the territory of Eurasia.  "The knowledge you get at Ural Federal University will help you in life. I am sure you will be grateful to your University and your professors in future", said Galym Orazbakov.

The ceremony was also visited by the delegation of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University led by the Rector Galimkair Mutanov and the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Education of Kazakhstan Alia Galimova.  In the end the guests and partners left a lot of cordial words and congratulations in the University's museum guest book.
