Ural Federal University continues to make considerable contribution into increasing of power efficiency of Russian economy

Technologies of power efficiency increasing for the modernization of the energetic infrastructure was discussed by the participants of the Russian – German forum which took place at Ural Federal University on December 10.

During the forum several interesting discussions on the most urgent problems of modern energy conservation were held. The participants discussed a wide range of topics: from Experience of Electric Power Management in European Electricity Network and Financing Possibilities under Modernization of Infrastructure Projects to Urgent Questions of the Development of Heat Supply Systems of Sverdlovsk region and Frame Conditions of Projects on Increasing of Power Efficiency in Russia.

The University became a place for the discussion on economics and energetics for the 5th time and it’s no coincidence: UrFU had found an acceptance as a research center in the field of power efficient technologies and economic researches owing to the success of the scientists and lecturers of the Graduate School of Economics and Management of Ural Federal University.

 “We look into the future, - addressed to the participants of the forum the Rector of Ural Federal University Viktor Koksharov. – All the technologies, which are being developed by our specialists today, will soon find implementation in the university technopark and ur small innovative ventures”.

Sergey Zyryanov, the Vice-premier of Sverdlovsk region, says that for the plants of the Middle Urals, which consume a lot of energy, especially for metallurgical works, the topic of the forum is extremely important. Bad condition of housing and communal services and severe climatic conditions increase power inputs. He also noted: “Every year Russia looses about 35% of energy supply because of inefficiency usage.  The volume of communal services in Sverdlovsk region is more than 110 billion rubles”.

The forum was held with the support of the Ministry of Energy of Russian Federation, Administration of Sverdlovsk Region, Ural Federal University, German Energy Agency Dena, Russian- German Chamber of Commerce and inter-regional distributive network company
“MRSK Ural”.

The 1st Russian – German forum on power efficiency was organized on the initiative of Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany in the past and the leader of Social Democratic Party fraction of Bundestag in the present.

The President of German Energy Agency Dena Stefan Kohler highly appreciated the level of the forum organization and expressed gratitude to all the participants.

German Energy Agency Dena is an expert centre in the field of power efficiency, renewable source energy and intelligent power systems. In collaboration with the economical and political partners the agency develop bilateral cooperation agreements on power efficiency in the fields of electrical energy and heat supply in the buildings, industrial objects and renewable energy sources in Russian and Central Asia. The aim is the support of modernization of economics with the help of German know-how and technologies.
