New dormitory of Ural Federal University was opened by the Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Dmitry Livanov

New dormitory of Ural Federal University was opened in  Ekaterinburg on December 16 on the crossroad of Komsomolskaya and Malysheva. The Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Dmitry Livanov, The Rector of UrFU Victor Koksharov, the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Evgeny Kuyvashev and the Chairman of UrFU Supervisory Board Dmitry Pumpyansky participated in the opening ceremony.

Modern 10-storeyed building can accept 1000 students. Every room is planned for 2-3 students, there are 4 kitchens on every floor, laundry, 2 study rooms and 2 common rooms.

The dormitory is well furnished, there is free internet access. One the 1st floor there is gym and students’ cafe. The area of the new dormitory is more than 19 thousand square meters; the cost of the construction is 523 million rubles.

“New UrFU dormitory” is a very successful project, which will enrich Yekaterinburg, - believe The Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Dmitry Livanov. – It’s important that Ural Federal University continue developing, attracting talented youth from our country and from abroad”.

 “We are grateful to the Ministry of Education and Science, the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region and Administration of the Region, because this project is the first project if the Federal Target Programme, - says UrFU Rector Victor Koksharov. – Taking into account the present success we are going to continue participating in the programmes of new modern UrFU campuses construction”.

The dormitory is the first constructed building since Ural Federal University was founded. Last time new dormitories of Ural State University and Ural Technical University were built more than 20 years ago.
