Victor Koksharov recalls the heroism of his compatriots during the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945

"I congratulate all faculty, staff and students of the university on Victory Day!

May 9 is a glorious date in the history of our country. Our dear veterans are the main heroes of the holiday. It is their incredible strength of spirit and devotion to the Motherland that helped to overcome a very long, difficult and so important path to gain Victory. And, of course, we owe an unpayable debt to all our compatriots who died in the war. In no case should we forget their feat during the cruel battles for Moscow and Stalingrad, the battle of Kursk, heroism during the siege of Leningrad and the hardest battles for the liberation of Europe. It is extremely important to preserve the traditions and memory of those who did not spare their lives for the sake of our common future. The heroes of the war proved by their personal examples that the defense of the Motherland is a sacred duty and a moral foundation for all generations.

I would like to highlight the feat of our students who went to the war front in those dreadful years. Many of them could not return to the university, to their relatives and friends. It is impossible to make up for this loss, but it is extremely important to remember what these people did to stop the enemy. The unfading glory of the heroes of battles and home front workers is an asset of our common history and a high spiritual and moral reference point. New generations of students should remember this feat and always be ready to prove by personal example that the lives taken during the war were not in vain.
