The University Hosted a Diplomatic Ball

The Ural Federal University hosted the first diplomatic ball organized by the Department of International Relations of the Ural Institute of Humanities.

For several hours, the main building of the university became a cultural platform for diplomacy, as well as for gaining practical experience and developing diplomatic skills. About 60 dancing couples came to the ball, which was timed to coincide with the International Day of Culture.

The opening speeches were delivered by the Acting Rector of UrFU Daniil Sandler, the Acting Minister of International and External Economic Relations of the Sverdlovsk Region Lyudmila Berg, and the Deputy Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Sverdlovsk Region Alexander Ivanov. The ball was also attended by the Consuls General of Azerbaijan and Vietnam, the Vice-Consul of Kyrgyzstan, the Consul and Attaché for Education of the People's Republic of China, the Honorary Consul of Italy.

"Our department trains diplomats, internationalists, regionalists, and orientalists, so, naturally, our graduates will participate in various secular events. So they have to be prepared. They have to understand how to behave, how to dress according to the dress code, how to dance, and how to present themselves, the organization, and the country properly. Our students studied for about three months and performed dances such as counter dance, Spanish waltz, and classical waltz at the ball. Everything went very well, effectively, positively, and I hope that such a ball will become a tradition", says Victoria Belyaeva, Head of the Department of International Relations.

In addition to the classical dance part of the ball, the Magnolia Dance Group demonstrated its skills. There was also a ceremony of awarding diplomas to students of "Diplomatic Class - 2024".
