UrFU Students Will Receive Additional Qualification in the Field of Tech Entrepreneurship

230 students are already interested in the new module

As part of the Priority-2030 program, UrFU was allowed to provide students with additional qualifications in modern directions of scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation in parallel with the main professional training.

The duration of the additional qualification program in the field of technological entrepreneurship will be more than 250 hours.

"Students study for an extended period, during this period the requirements of the labor market inevitably change. The module of additional qualification will allow them to master a new type of activity. For example, our students develop competencies in the Internet of Things. The same modern engineers need software knowledge. But if a student had to search for information on his own earlier, with the help of remote programs, now the knowledge can be officially obtained at the university. And this is high-quality information. Before, students approached us, explaining that they would love to participate in technology entrepreneurship if they had the time. Today they can do it officially as part of the curriculum," said Elena Bespamyatnykh, Head of the Center for Educational Technologies and Staffing Support of Innovative Activity of UrFU.

Currently, 230 university students are already interested in additional qualification programs in the field of technological entrepreneurship.

"We have started working with the Institute of Physics and Technology, Ural Power Engineering Institute, Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. The program of additional qualifications for the development of technological leaders includes an introduction to technological entrepreneurship, project selection, and practice in technological entrepreneurship. The guys got all the opportunities to develop their projects today. The sources are project practice, minors, ideas from the department, and theses. As a result, in a year the university will have subject students who have obtained qualifications in the field of innovation, technological entrepreneurship, and technology transfer", said Elena Bespamyatnykh.

Upon completion of the program, students will receive a professional retraining diploma and build their growth trajectory in the form of further development of their project in the accelerator program, the UrFU Startup Studio, and as part of the Startup as a Diploma program.

The Startup as a Diploma program is aimed at supporting businesses at the initial stage. The program was launched at UrFU in 2020. Students of 3-4 years of Bachelor's degree, 5-6 years of specialist degree, and 1-2 years of Master's degree can join the program.
