On the evening of May 31, a spring ball was held in the square in front of the main academic building of the Ural Federal University. More than 250 people took part in the celebration: students of Ural Federal University and other universities of Ekaterinburg, as well as citizens.

This year's event had a very spring theme - a flower ball. The ladies' dresses resembled different buds, and they braided floral wreaths in their hair. The participants performed 10 dances: five different types of waltzes, as well as Friendship Polka, Écossaise (Scottish folk dance), Pas-de-Grâce, and others.

Between the dances, the audience was entertained by the UrFU creative teams, and after the ball, everyone was treated to gingerbread and pie.

UrFU balls are a unique project of the university. Every year the event attracts more than 400 participants not only from UrFU but also from other universities of the city. The tradition of UrFU balls was born in 2010 at the now-defunct Faculty of Humanities of UGTU-UPI (now UrFU). The first winter ball took place in December 2010. In 2013, the New Year's Ball was held for the first time as a university event, attracting both current and former students.
